Al-Kafi: Usul: Selection

This web site provides an English translation of the book Al-Kafi: Usul: Selection. Al-Kafi is of the most important Shia books after the Glorious Qur’an. It is a collection of the traditions (Ahadith) of the Holy Prophet and the Divine leaders (the Imams).

“Al-Kafi” in Arabic means ‘The necessary and sufficient’.

“Al-Kafi” consists of three Volumes: ‘Usul’, ‘Furu’ and ‘Rawda’. This site presents only the first Volume ‘Usul’ meaning the roots or fundamentals.

The goal of this site is to let the readers know the essence of the Shia faith. Many Shias themselves are not aware of this book. As a result, they do not have the knowledge and the depth of personality which the book calls for. Otherwise, Shias should have been one of the most loved and inspired communities.
