Masoodul Hassan Effendi, more known by his pen name Sohaol
Effendi, hails, from a literary family of Agra, India. His
father, Allama Najm Effendi , a renowned poet, moved to
Hyderabad and the family settled there. Sohail Effendi studied
in Osmania Universit. He became interested in languages
and religious literature during his scholastic career and
continued his studies in these subjects as well as in the
natural sciences. In the early forties he became a renowned
poet, speaker and writer and had gained proficiency in Arabic
and Persian. It was during theses days that he became interested
in the study of Qur’aan and Hadees(traditions). Since
then he has devoted all his energies to this field. In order
to improve his perspective for the study of Qur’aan,
the Allama studied ancient holy scriptures, the Old and
the New Testaments and the Vedas. He has written several
articles on the Holy Qur’aan and the modern sciences
which have been published in various magazines. He has also
written a commentary on the first chapter of the Holy Qur’aan
- Al-Fatiha.
