The Book of Divine Proof

Chapter 76
Imamate of Hujjat al-Qaim (p): the twelfth Imam (in occultation)

439.4 Dou bin Ali al-Ijli reports that a man from Faras (Persia) came to Imam al-Hasan al-Askari (p) and with the Imam’s (p) permission lived with him as his servant.
The Farasi (Persian) reports: One day I entered the house of Imam (p) and heard a voice from the men’s quarters. The Imam (p) called me and ordered me to stay where I was. I noticed a maidservant coming out of the quarters carrying something wrapped up in her arms. The Imam (p) told me to enter the quarters. After I entered, the Imam (p) called the maidservant and told her to bring what she had with her. When she returned, the Imam (p) told her to uncover what she had brought. It was a baby with a charming face, and when the Imam (p) uncovered the baby’s body, I noticed that the hair had grown from the middle of his chest to his navel. It was greenish but not black in colour. Then the Imam (p) told the maidservant that he (the baby) will be her master and ordered her to take the baby away. I did not see the baby again while the Imam (p) was alive.
Translator’s note: The Twelfth Imam (p), son of Imam al-Hasan al-Askari (p), is in occultation according to the commandment of God and will reappear followed by Prophet Isa (Jesus) (p) at the will of God to reclaim the world towards truth and justice. He is the namesake of the Prophet Muhammad (p) and his epithets are Mehdi, Qaim-e-Aale Muhammad, Hujjat and as a mark of respect, his name is never uttered or written. The letters suffixed to his epithet stand for ‘Ajjalallahu Ta’ala Farajahu’ which means ‘May God hasten his reappearance.’
