Contemplation

654. 1. Imam Ali (p): Keep your heart active and alive to remember God, leave your bed in the nights (to offer the midnight prayers) and fear your Lord-Sustainer God.(B5,C28,T1)

655. 2. Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (p): Meditation for a single moment is better than offering prayers during a whole night.
He was requested to give an example of meditation.
The Imam (p): If you happen to see some ruins then (addressing the ruins) say ‘Where have your inhabitants gone? Where are the people who constructed you? Why do you not reply to these questions?’(B5,C28,T2)

656. 3. Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (p): The best form of worship of God is to reflect and meditate on the authority of God.(B5,C28,T3)

657. 4. Imam Ali ar-Reza (p): Real worship of God does not comprise numerous fasts and prayers. It comprises meditation, reflection and pondering on the greatness of God, the Almighty, and the Glorious.(B5,C28,T4)

658. 5. Imam Ali (p): Meditation draws people towards virtue and encourages them to act on it.(B5,C28,T5)
