Chapter 32
Reliance and trust in God

673. 1. Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (p) said that God, the Elevated, revealed to Prophet David (Dawood) (p): Any believer of Mine who sought My refuge and did not seek the refuge of any of My creations and I saw sincerity in his purpose, then I shall provide an outlet for him even in the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them. And if any believer of Mine who turned away from Me and sought the refuge of any of My creations, and I see his intention then whatever ways and means are before him in the heavens and the earth, I shall cancel them …(B5,C32,T1)

674. 5. Imam Musa al-Kazim (p) was requested to explain the verse: … One who relies on God, God is sufficient for him … (Q, 65:3).
The Imam (p): There are degrees of reliance on God. One of them is that you should totally rely on God in respect of all your affairs and be content with whatever situation you have to face and remember that He shall never withdraw His Beneficence and His mercy from you. Bear in mind that this (situation in which you find yourself) is according to His supreme will. Surrender all your affairs to God and rely on Him under all circumstances.(B5,C32,T5)

675. 6. Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (p): Three things always go with three others. One who prays (to God), his prayers are granted. One who thanks God, He enhances His Bounties on him and one who relies on God, God fulfils his wishes. Have you not gone through these verses: … One who relies on God, He is sufficient for him … (Q, 65:3) … If you thank God, He will enhance His bounties on you … (Q, 14:7) and Call Me and I shall answer (your prayers) … (Q, 40:60).(B5,C32,T6)
