Chapter 10
Earnest insistence and perseverance in prayers

1422. 1. Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (p): When a servant prays, God delays in granting his prayer unless and until the servant perseveres in it.(B6,C10,T1)

1423. 3. Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (p): By God! When a sincere believer prays to God desperately with earnestness and perseverance, God grants his prayer.(B6,C10,T3)

1424. 4. Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (p): God does not like that His servants entreat and beseech each other for their needs. He likes to keep this (entreaty and beseechment) as His Own prerogative. God likes that every request should be made to Him only.(B6,C10,T4)

1425. 6. Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (p): May God shower His mercy on the servant who prays God for all his needs and insists and perseveres in his prayer whether it is granted or not.
Then, the Imam (p) recited the verse in which the Prophet Zachariah (Zakaria) (p) said: O my Lord… Never am I in my prayer unto Thee been unblest (Q, 19:4).(B6,C10,T6)
